The US financial sector is in its worst crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s -- and the fate of the world economy is at stake.

The Federal Reserve has intervened in an unprecedented manner in a bid to save the system from collapse, but how successful have Ben Bernanke's rescue moves been? Is the worst over? What are the implications for the US dollar and the economy?

Thomas Lam Tai Loong, vice president and senior treasury economist with United Overseas Bank Group, will give us some answers.

Prior to joining UOB, Tom worked as an economist in New York with Vanderbilt Capital Advisors LLC and JP Morgan Chase & Co.

He maintains close links with New York and participates in numerous US economic and financial surveys including the Fed's quarterly "Survey of Professional Forecasters". Tom also appears regularly on CNBC and has been frequently quoted by other international news media.
