The Asia-Pacific region will continue to see the strongest growth in air travel over the coming decades, with passenger traffic rising by around 5.5 per cent per year. This will see the fleet in the region grow from its current level of 6,000 aircraft today to over 15,000 in 20 years, generating demand for a significant increase in the active flight crew population.
In order to help meet demand, Airbus in April 2016 opened a state-of-the-art flight training centre here in Singapore, under a joint venture with Singapore Airlines. Called the Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC), the facility can accommodate 10,000 trainees per year and already features six state-of-the-art full flight simulators, plus the latest ground based training devices.
Airbus is pleased to organise a special visit to the training centre for members of the Foreign Correspondents Association in Singapore. Taking place on Tuesday 20th June, the programme will include an on-the-record briefing by Captain Yann Lardet, General Manager of AATC, followed by a tour of the facility and lunch.
The first 15 members to sign up for the visit will also get the chance to experience a full flight simulator session (A350 XWB)!
