FCA members are invited to an exclusive fireside chat with Singapore-based investigative reporter Matthew Campbell, co-author of Financial Times Book of the Year shortlisted Dead in the Water.

In July 2011, the oil tanker Brillante Virtuoso was drifting through the Gulf of Aden when pirates attacked and set her ablaze. When David Mockett, a surveyor working for Lloyd’s of London, inspected the vessel, he was left with more questions than answers, but Mockett would never answer them. Soon after his inspection, David Mockett was murdered.

Dead in the Water is a shocking exposé of the corrupt inner workings of international shipping. Join us to find out how Matthew and co-author Kit Chellel pieced together the astounding truth behind one of the most brazen financial frauds in history.

FCA committee member and host Tim Williamson will also talk to Matthew about his career in investigative reporting and his upcoming book Stealing the Gods, about his investigations into how lost Cambodian treasures have ended up in the halls of the rich and famous in New York and London.

Please register by Fri 8 Sep 2023 to attend this FCA fireside chat at Treetops Suite at The British Club.

The event will begin at 7:30pm, but FCA members who would like to meet earlier for dinner at Windsor Arms in The British Club, do let us know at secretariat@fcasingapore.com
