One year after the global credit crisis began, what is the financial industry outlook for SE Asia investors? From their perspectives at Fullerton and Actis, respectively, Gerard Lee and Gary Addison will address transparency, research and valuation issues. They will discuss they ways in which the financial industry in SE Asia has changes and what investors can expect in 2010.
Gerard Lee is the Chief Executive Officer and President of Fullerton Fund Management Company Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Temasek Holdings. He was previously the head of Temasek's Fund Management Division. Before joining Temasek, he has held positions as Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Deutsche Asset Management Singapore, Head of Fixed Income Sales at SBC Warburg Singapore and Head of Government of Singapore Investment Corporation Private Limited's (GIC) New York Office.
Gary Addison is a partner at Actis, one of the largest private equity firms in Asia with US$2.9 billion under management in the region. Based in Singapore, Addison oversees investments in the SE Asia region. He also is Actis' global head for the business services sector. Addison joined Actis from 3i in London, where he was a partner in their highly successful mid-market buyout business. One of the initial investors in DBS Bank, Actis has been active in SE Asia since 1948.
