The FCA is organizing an afternoon briefing on Oct 22 with Maria van der Hoeven, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency.

Maria van der Hoeven took over as Executive Director of the IEA on 1 September 2011. Previously, she served as Minister of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands from February 2007 to October 2010, during which time she demonstrated leadership on energy policy at the national, regional and global levels.

At the meeting, Ms van der Hoeven will touch on global energy challenges and regional implications and opportunities for Southeast Asia. She will be sharing her perspective on new policy frameworks and directions needed to tackle the world's energy challenges.  She will also be addressing the concrete steps she believes governments and businesses should take to ensure energy security and sustainability.
