FCA journalists are invited to attend a press briefing announcing the launch of a fund to combat ocean plastic in Asia.

With 60% of plastic waste entering the world’s oceans originating in Asia, this statistic is a major contributing factor to the fund’s strategic location in Singapore.

Singapore-based Circulate Capital launches the world’s first investment fund dedicated to preventing ocean plastic in South and Southeast Asia.

The Circulate Capital Ocean Fund (CCOF) has raised US$106M from several leading corporations; PepsiCo, Chevron Phillips Chemical, Danone, Dow, Procter & Gamble, The Coca-Cola Company, and Unilever. The fund aims to prevent plastic waste from leaking into the ocean through financing Asia’s waste ecosystem and incentivize private capital investment in the recycling value chain across South and Southeast Asia. Panelists include:

  • Rob Kaplan (Founder & CEO, Circulate Capital)
  • Bambang Candra (Asia-Pacific Commercial Vice President, Dow Packaging and Speciality Plastics)
  • Matt Echols (Vice President, Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability, Coca-Cola Asia Pacific)

Rob will share details about the fund and investment model which seeks to blend concessionary and philanthropic funds with market-rate investment capital to demonstrate that investment in the resource recovery sector can provide attractive financial returns. A senior representative from a Singapore Statutory Board will join the panel with some of the founding investors. Lunch will be served after the panel.
