This event is for Members only.
FCA members are cordially invited to a lunch panel discussion on 9 Mar 2023.
The United States begins its hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum with scheduled meetings in Palm Springs, focusing on economic inclusion and environmental sustainability. Preparation is now underway in Detroit where USTR Ambassador Katherine Tai will welcome APEC Trade Ministers on 25-26 May.
Hosting APEC is an extension of the US commitment to economic engagement in the Asia-Pacific that opens up opportunities for businesses to connect with the most dynamic region in the world. In addition, 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the first APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting on Blake Island, Washington.
For APEC, whose bread and butter has been trade and investment, this year is an important milestone for members to focus on next generation issues such as addressing inequality and driving sustainability, the two drivers that are crucial for navigating a post-COVID world.
The lunch panel discussion will feature APEC Secretariat Executive Director, Dr Rebecca Sta. Maria and Director of the Policy Support Unit, Carlos Kuriyama who will speak about how the forum has managed cooperation despite tensions, what is expected from the US hosting of the forum this year, and how sustainability is the key that ties everything together. The discussion will be moderated by FCA President, Joanna Ossinger (Bloomberg).
Lunch will be provided but seats are limited and will be available on a first-come-first-served basis. If you have any allergies/dietary requirement, please let us know by latest 2 Mar 2023. Please log in to register.
