Dear FCA Members, The Foreign Correspondents Association (Singapore) is 50 years old and it's time to celebrate in style with a gala dinner for members and their invited guests. The FCA Committee is pleased to announce that Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew will be joining us for our celebration. MM Lee has kindly agreed to discuss the evolving relations between the foreign press and the Singaporean government over the past 50 years, as well as take questions from the floor. The evening will be held at The Fullerton Hotels Ballroom, and will start at 7.00pm with a cocktail reception, followed by a three-course dinner. Security will be tight and the Police has requested registration starts at 6:30pm. DRESS CODE: Evening/Lounge Suits To mark the 50th anniversary, the FCA is also launching a new annual journalism contest: the Dennis Bloodworth Memorial Journalism Prize. During the course of the evening well reveal the winner, who will pick up S$3,000 from the FCA and an eight-week internship with Bloomberg. The committee has also organized a raffle with fabulous prizes, including a top prize of two business-class return tickets to Dubai, courtesy of Emirates Airline, a fountain pen by Caran d'Ache, Switzerland's only manufacturer of pencils, fine arts products and writing instruments, a half day's cruise around Singapore and southern islands (in mid-June) for the lucky winner and 9 friends, courtesy of Kingfisher Marine, and a weekend stay in one of the Fullerton Hotels elegant guest rooms inclusive of buffet breakfast for two. The 50th Anniversary Gala event is generously supported by MasterCard, PSA and DaimlerChrysler.
